Mexican photographer Lourdes Grobet dedicated her life to artistic creation with passion, commitment, and discipline, leaving behind a vast archive that spans five decades of uninterrupted work.
Her archive and legacy include photographs, thousands of negatives, multimedia installations, publications, videos, two feature films, among many other original pieces—mostly from personal projects, as well as commissioned works. It also contains numerous documents related to cultural, social, and political matters of interest to her, as well as working materials and writings from her own projects. Therefore, the archive serves as a reflection of her career and personality.
Following her passing in 2022, interest from cultural institutions, museums, publishers, and the general public—both nationally and internationally—did not diminish. On the contrary, it has increased. It was at this point that her four children, heirs to her archive and copyright, Alejandra, Xavier, Ximena, and Juan Cristóbal Pérez Grobet, decided to form a civil association to manage all matters related to her work, legacy, and dissemination.
The Lourdes Grobet S.C. civil association was officially established on March 29, 2023, with the purpose of preserving, promoting, archiving, and authorizing or prohibiting publications featuring the artist’s photographs. The association is also committed to upholding the vision with which she created her work—playful, irreverent, and purposeful.
To date, Lourdes Grobet S.C. has collaborated on numerous projects with museums, publishers, and both public and private institutions. Notable collaborations include:
